Finger Foods and Solids

Food comes in all shapes, sizes, flavors, and textures. Learning to eat finger foods and solids is about babies becoming safe and skilled with all different types of food. It takes some time and it’s a messy process. Some babies move easily from one food texture to another and quickly develop confidence, while others are very cautious about change. At Mealtime Connections, we guide families in their initial introduction to solids as well as help families whose babies become stuck in certain food transitions due to developmental, coordination, medical or sensory challenges. We help support enjoyment, confidence, safety, and internal motivation with eating while baby learns to eat enough to grow.
